Sonder |
n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own -- an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you'll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.

The Sonder Review is a publication of short fiction, creative nonfiction and visual art. Our magazine lives both online and in print and is based in Upstate, New York.
We believe in language. Words raw and shuddering and unabashed. Prose which is spare and piercing, delicately and deliberately crafted. We believe in storytelling that is innovative and daring, precise and oddly angled. Writing which shows us the bizarre but also, always, the resounding throb of humanity. We want fresh voices; words which must be heard.
We believe incredibly strongly in our authors and take immense pride in bringing their vision to fruition. We also do our best to promote their voices and nominate their work for applicable awards and prizes.
Submissions are currently open. Please see our submission guidelines for full details.
We look forward to reading your work!
